A Coastal Oasis In Conneware, Victoria Designed + Built By The Owners

When planning their dream house, developing designer Lauren Patista-Trickey of Section Studio and her spouse, builder Jonathon Patista had all the applications to build a property with all the bells and whistles. As an alternative, they opted for simplicity.

‘Simplicity in both format and building,’ clarifies Lauren. ‘We needed to retain matters aligned and simplified from a flooring program standpoint to minimise wasted materials and needless labour.’

It is simplified, but in no way trite. By way of intelligent product preference and thoughtful scheduling, Lauren and Jonathon have established a coastal oasis for their family members of six, which includes 8-yr-aged twins Max and Winnie, just one-12 months-aged Johnny and blue heeler Skip.

Their property is a new construct on a beforehand empty block in Connewarre, Victoria (on the Bellarine Peninsula) surrounded by a golfing system and open paddocks, and just a five-moment walk from the seashore.

‘We have a beautiful scenic vista of pine trees, rolling eco-friendly hills, and four welcoming cows we location from our window that belong to a close by farmer,’ states Lauren.

With a landscape these kinds of as this, Lauren and Jonathon understood the greatest selection for them was to make a dwelling that celebrated their surroundings, and permitted for link in communal parts, but also place to retreat.

‘Orientation was so paramount to the structure,’ says Lauren. ‘With a generous web page we were being equipped to create sunny, heat living spaces though defending the pool and entertaining areas from the blistering winds that roll in from the paddocks nearby.’

Communal regions are found in the centre of the property, which also wraps all around the plunge pool and outside residing. At both conclusion of the amazing adobe is a bedroom retreat for respite and leisure. ‘We aligned the hallways that increase at both stop to the non-public bedrooms and bogs, offering the flexibility to connect these areas, or separate them by closing cleverly put doors,’ Lauren points out.

Elements have been also preferred to reflect the landscape, with limestone boulders dug up in the course of the earthworks now sitting in the yard providing a issue of reference to the inside. Within, limestone-like tiles, rammed earth walls, an earthy color palette and textured neutrals reign.

Outsized commercially-framed home windows mounted alongside the northern wall of the primary dwelling room regularly hook up the relatives to their inspiration.

‘I enjoy that I can be pottering about in the kitchen area, and see the youngsters splashing in the pool, the pet lying in the sunshine on the deck, and the cows chewing grass on the close by hill,’ says Lauren.
