Bodega, Share House open in former train depot downtown > Charleston Business Journal

Initially made in 1850 by the S.C. Railroad Co., the coach depot has formerly been the spot for a multi-restaurant ideas Scarecrow, Feathertop, and Sensible-Buck Smoked Meats.

Now entirely transformed, Bodega’s vivid and daring graffiti-loaded partitions and vibrant tiles are a nod to bodegas found in New York with tailor made works from local Charleston artist Jennifer Griffith. Next door, Share Home functions coastal cantina beachy décor with a massive bottle-cap mural and sea glass and crushed shell tabby-topped bar.

Keith Benjamin, co-founder and senior working associate of Uptown Hospitality Team, claimed the crew began wanting for a long term locale for Bodega in 2019 that offered a very similar square footage to Uptown Social.

“We had our eye on 23 Ann St. for some time,” Benjamin mentioned. “Being downtown was a must for us at the time, both on or all around King Street. On a whim, we arrived at out to the leasing agent and as they say, the rest is historical past. We understood appropriate then that we had a property for the two concepts we had been dreaming about.”

It took 15 months to make out the place for the two concepts, Benjamin reported.
