Jan. 6 committee seeks info from 6th House Republican over alleged Capitol tour

The Home choose committee investigating the Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol has requested facts from a sixth Household Republican, Rep. Barry Loudermilk of Ga, suggesting in a letter Thursday that he could be joined to a tour by parts of the Capitol on the working day in advance of the assault.

“We believe that you have information relating to a tour you led by way of areas of the Capitol advanced on January 5, 2021,” Chairman Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Skip., and Vice Chair Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., wrote in a letter to Loudermilk Thursday.

The letter will come in reaction to a Democratic House member’s request for Capitol stability to investigate allegations that GOP lawmakers led reconnaissance excursions around the Capitol elaborate ahead of the assault.

“In reaction to those allegations, Republicans on the Committee on Household Administration — of which you are a Member — claimed to have reviewed stability footage from the days previous January 6th and determined that ‘[t]below have been no excursions, no massive teams, no one particular with MAGA hats on.’ However, the Pick Committee’s overview of evidence immediately contradicts that denial,” the letter to Loudermilk claims.

In a statement, Loudermilk and Rep. Rodney Davis, R-Sick., the ranking member of the House Administration Committee, accused the committee of advertising a “verifiably false narrative.”

No member of the family members was on Capitol grounds on Jan. 6, or was investigated or charged in link with the Jan. 6 attack, Loudermilk reported in the assertion.

Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa., Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., and Ronny Jackson, R-Texas — immediately after they refused to cooperate voluntarily with the panel.
