Jinx McDonald Interior Designs, Inc. (JMID), a Naples-based interior design firm, recently designed the interior of a stunning private residence along the Caloosahatchee in Fort Myers.
“The goal was to create a beautiful, soothing and serene waterfront home for a lovely lady to enjoy peaceful days in,” said Minka McDonald, President of Jinx McDonald Interior Designs.
McDonald along with fellow designer Beth Walker-Fenton diligently designed the 7,482 square foot, four-bedroom, six-bathroom home around the unobstructed views of the water, the client’s goals for the next chapter of her life and her favorite color.
“Blue is her favorite color, so the palette quickly developed into a mix of blues, white and grays,” said McDonald.
A gray wood floor was selected and runs throughout the entire home. White cabinets in the kitchen and living room built-ins were added to contrast nicely against the flooring. The central area of the living room’s focal wall was clad with an Azul Calcite, which was showcased again in the master and bathroom where it is surrounded by white marble and cabinetry.
White painted tongue and groove ceiling details, white Chippendale railings on the staircase and second-floor gallery and white plantation shutters all add to the seaside feel of the home.
The second floor has three en-suite bedrooms, laundry and a media room that features a custom built-in that houses a huge screen for movie watching with her grandchildren.
“The homeowner loves to read and had many books that she wanted to bring to her new house,” said McDonald. “With this in mind, the study received a custom built-in on two walls providing storage for files as well as the client’s beloved book collection.”
The outdoor living area is supremely comfortable with fully upholstered outdoor-rated sofas and lounge chairs, with ample room for the entire extended family to dine. Limestone pavers juxtapose beautifully with the gray tongue and groove ceiling detail.
“She asked that the outdoor living area be comfortable and beautiful as she loves to gaze at the water and watch the dolphins and manatees play,” concluded McDonald.
Gorgeous light fixtures, area rugs, custom bedding ensembles, custom window treatments, artwork and accessories complete the home, creating another happy home for another happy Jinx McDonald client.
Jinx McDonald has won countless CBIA Sand Dollar Awards, including three in 2020 alone for Best Outdoor Living Area over $5,000,000, Interior Design of the Year for a Single-Family Home between $750,001 and $1,000,000 and Interior Design of the Year for a Multi-Family Home between $750,001 and $1,000,000.
